Fund Introduction

Funds allocated from The Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) are now available through our “POST LOCKDOWN” NET Coronavirus Grants Programme.

GRANTS of up-to £5,000 are now available to support local voluntary and community organisations that are helping vulnerable people impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The programme has now transitioned from the initial immediate response phase to the longer-term emergency which is directed at helping those who are suffering hardship as a result of the short and long term economic and social consequences caused by Covid-19.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As the source of this funding is now from DCMS we have had to introduce new terms and conditions and additional requirements around fraud, privacy and data- sharing. You are welcome to apply if you have previously been funded through the National Emergency Trust.

Criteria:

FUND AIMS

We will continue to prioritise projects which directly respond to acute need, but we are now able to extend our grant making remit to support a wider range of community support:

Including:

  • the financial stability of organisations directly supporting people experiencing hardship as a result of the crisis. This can include core funding.
  • organisations to adapt to the crisis with a focus on developing and enhancing services, buying equipment, capacity building or organisational development.
  • Projects that prevent problems emerging or getting worse – to prevent crises escalating and also to help people and communities to seize opportunities to emerge from crisis and lead thriving lives going forward.

What We Can Fund:

  • We will continue to support organisations that are supporting the ongoing needs of vulnerable people to ensure that their health and wellbeing is maintained including those who are self isolating or in localised lockdowns, community response co-ordination and informal groups responding to the crisis.
  • Funding for organisations working to combat hardship including economic, social or health impacts caused by the pandemic especially those operating in the most deprived communities
  • Funding to support Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) organisations and communities – to help build the capacity of BAME-led organisations
  • Funding to help organisations to adapt their work and services, including planning for the future and working towards delivering differently as a result of the pandemic.
  • Core funding for organisations providing services to help people most in need
  • Funding to support activities that relieve pressure on local statutory services, particularly emergency or health and social care provision, or compliment their response
  • Organisations supporting people or communities who have been disproportionately affected.
  • Funding to support online fundraising initiatives that will help organisations recoup lost income and become more sustainable going forward

For example, projects could include, but are not limited to:

  • Support for vulnerable and older people in their homes, providing food and medicines whilst this is still required.
  • Supporting vulnerable people to ensure that their health and wellbeing is maintained – including emotional support, and mental health and bereavement services
  • Training of new volunteers and advice worker
  • Cost of adapting services and new ways of working in response to the Covid-19 crisis
  • Cost of developing new services in response to the Covid-19 crisis
  • Foodbanks and organisations working to combat hardship caused by Covid-19
  • Cost of new partnership work between organisations working together to combat the effects of the crisis
  • Employment and training initiatives
  • Funding for community groups that are linked into the hubs coordinating the local Covid-19 response.
  • Non-perishable food and essential living and baby items for distribution to destitute individuals.
  • Online Fundraising initiatives to replace income lost during lockdown
  • Increased hours for part time frontline workers to deliver increased services
  • Cost of PPE in response to the Covid-19 crisis

Timescale

Grants awarded from this programme have to be fully spent by organisations by 31st March 2021.

Who Can Apply:

Voluntary and community organisations, including:

  • registered charities, including charitable incorporated organisations
  • constituted organisations and non-registered charities
  • community interest companies and community benefit societies
  • parish and town councils (if the funded activity is not deemed part of their statutory duties)
  • Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs)
  • Churches and other religious organisations (if the funded activity is not deemed to be proselytising)
  • other voluntary community organisations or those not constituted with appropriate endorsement from a statutory body, charity, or parochial church council

Exclusions

  • Grants that are solely for the provision of bursaries to individuals or families
  • Individuals cannot apply.
  • Statutory bodies such as city and county councils or health institutions cannot apply.
  • National or Regional organisations not based and active in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
  • Projects for the sole benefit of animals or plants

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED – Please note:

  • There is no deadline for this grant programme – we will action applications as quickly as we can as they come in. To help us please:
    • answer all the questions in the application form
    • try and keep your answers informative but concise – 300 words per question should be ample
    • Ensure your budget is broken down especially for salaries and office/hall rents – we need to know the hourly rate and period covered
  • You will need to pay special attention and read the new terms and conditions along with the new privacy, fraud and other notices. These are found on this programme’s webpage
  • Please ensure your application clearly highlights how your organisation is helping people through this COVID19 Crisis
