Solent Supporting Employment

Solent Supporting Employment Programme

The three year £1.76 million ‘Solent Supporting Employment’ Grant Programme is providing grants of between £30,000 – £60,000 to local organisations in the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area, to help individuals facing complex barriers to employment, particularly where deprivation and unemployment are high.

Launched on 12th August 2020, at a time when the full impact of coronavirus on the local labour market is still not yet fully apparent, grants will support organisations with a proven record in employability to enable those from BAME communities, people with disabilities, long-term unemployed and people facing factors such as mental health, age and homelessness to move closer towards, or into employment.

The programme was created by Solent LEP in response to the call issued by the Department of Work and Pensions, and is supported by the European Social Fund, Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council, Southampton City Council, and Sovereign Housing, together with extensive support from HIWCF donors.

The Solent Supporting Employment Programme follows the successful first Solent Community Grants Programme 2016-2018, where over 52% of participants were able to either move into employment, engage in education or training or begin looking for work, with many more improving their employability prospects through volunteering opportunities.

The first round of funding for August/September 2020 is now closed, for more details of the grants awarded, please see our press release here:

Please look out for the second round of funding coming in early 2021. The grants will be available from our website
