‘HIWCF Celebrates £10 Million of Charitable Giving, to Support Disadvantaged and Vulnerable Local People

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) held a Reception at The Great Hall in Winchester on the evening of 12th September, to celebrate reaching the landmark of £10 million in charitable giving across the region.

Over 100 guests attended, including HIWCF President/Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire,  Nigel Atkinson Esq; the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight Mrs Susie Sheldon and the High Sheriff of Hampshire Mrs Sarah Le May.  The Reception was an opportunity to celebrate 13 years of charitable giving, with HIWCF awarding £10 million in grants to support over 3,500 local charitable projects, reaching approximately 1.3 million beneficiaries. The evening was generously sponsored by Brewin Dolphin and Hildon Water.

During the evening, fund holders and donors were able to meet some of the charitable groups  that HIWCF has supported to hear first-hand about the vital work that they carry out to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people living in our local communities.

HIWCF Chief Executive, Grant Cornwell MBE commented “HIWCF is probably one of Hampshire’s best kept secrets, with many people completely unaware of our vital role in supporting the army of local community groups that help people during times of crisis and need. As an organisation we want to offer local people an alternative to the larger national charities they may have traditionally supported, and our reception enabled us to show guests that even a small donation to HIWCF can make a huge difference. I was delighted that so many guests gave their time to support us and to see the significant impact that HIWCF grants bring to the greatest areas of need in our local communities.”
