Transporting Urgent Medical Supplies

SERV Wessex, also known as the Blood Runners, transport urgent medical items and supply the Air Ambulance with the blood and plasma carried on the aircraft. Volunteers use their own vehicles for charity work, pay all their own costs and saw their workload increase massively during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A grant of £2,000 from the NHS Covid-19 Fund has helped SERV to purchase a new scooter to continue supporting local communities.

Paul has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and is on the shielding list for Covid-19. His treatment requires medication which is only available from Basingstoke Hospital Pharmacy and unfortunately Paul could not travel to collect the prescription, Paul’s wife, Linda, had cancer last year and needs to be very careful, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, to protect both herself and Paul’s health, and so the delivery service provided by SERV has been vital for them both during the pandemic.

"SERV Wessex are delivering my medication and have never let us down. We are so grateful for their help and for giving us one less worry in these challenging times."
