Supporting Deaf Children

The Elizabeth Foundation in Portsmouth helps deaf children learn to listen and talk, but the Covid-19 crisis has caused a significant drop in the groups ability to fundraise, together with a huge increase in demand for support.

A grant of £5,263 from the National Emergencies Trust meant that families with young deaf children received online learning resources and confidential support via email, skype and telephone, helping them to learn how to listen and talk, meaning they could be school-ready and able to learn in the classroom alongside their hearing peers.

"At a time when families with young deaf children feel ever more isolated from the specialist early education they need and deserve, this much needed grant will enable us to continue to provide outstanding education services to them and their families, in a safe and inclusive manner. Thank you so very much!
