Heart of Hampshire

Home / Grant / Heart of Hampshire

Introduction

In Hampshire (including Portsmouth City and Southampton City) approximately 68,600 older people feel isolated and struggle with loneliness. The feeling that the outside world is ever so slightly out of reach can leave people thinking they are totally alone… just imagine being home on your own, day after day, the house is silent, the clock chimes loudly and there is nowhere to go and nobody coming to visit.

Our Hampshire community has many voluntary and community groups that provide a lifeline to older isolated people by offering support such as lunch clubs, coffee/activity groups, befrienders, transport to companionship groups, outings and daytrip opportunities. The Heart of Hampshire Fund will provide grant funding to these local groups.
